Another 6 arden Spot"
Mr. E-iitor:
It has been some time since I
have attempted a word f >r your
very highly appreciated and val
uable sheet. This, the Elgin,
section is one 01 the garden spots
of the county. It is being diecovered
that there is a farm about
10 inches below the old worn
oue and some of our farmers are
utilizing that hitherto undiscovered
farm. Especially has our
new comer, Charles P. Caskey,
made developments on the place
recently bought and occupied by
him. It is said by the tenants
who have been on the place for
several years that the crop is the
best that lias been on the place
for years. That newly discovered
farm and get up and move on,
accounts for it all. Mr. G. W.

uaKer M.r. T. K. Small, two
of Antioch's successful farmers,
spent the day with Mr. Oaskey
last week, looking over his farm
and mode of procedure in tolding
and building up a worn
farm.
Quite a crowd went to the river
last week, on a fishing expedition.
They repqrt a good time
and success?no candidates nor
drunken persons to disturb their
pleasures.
The people in these parts are
nearly done work and all have
very good crops, and they 'will
do better when they get down
and utilize that hitherto undiscovered
farm below the one that
tnev are scratching over now.
The fruit crop is abundant
this year and our lady-folks are
making use oi it in the way of
drying aud preserving. Watermel
oils are beginning to ripen now.
The new preacher at Elgin
seems to be winning the affections
ot his congregation.
The old comrades aud friends
of Uncle John Hagins will be
pleased to learn that he is seemingly
rapidly recovering from a
paralytic stroke, sustained some
days ago.
Some parties without the fear
of the law before their eyes did
maliciously poison Mr. U. L'.
Caakey's old Hagins mill pond
and killed quite a lot of fine fish.
That was quite wrong and if the
p* parties who did the act are found
ou'' tliey will be prosecuted to
the extent of the law.
Mrs. W. J. Long has returned
from an extended visit to her
daughter, Mrs. YV. T. Ligon, ot

few days ago, the misfortune to
lose two fine cows by cattle fever.
