Liquor, but Wouldn't
Promise to Quit

M an aged white man and Confederate
veteran, pleaded guilty in
the Court of General Sessions today
to the charge of selling whiskey.
Judge Hvdrick tried to get
the defendant to promise rot to
sell any more whiskey but he refused
to promise and was sentenc
ed to serve three months or pay
a fine of $100.

New Trial for Gus Lee.
Chester special in Sunday's
State : In the court of general
sessions today Judge Gage granted
a motion for new trial in the
case of Gus Lee, reprieved until
next Friday, and fixed the 3rd
of September as the date of a
special term of court for the
trial.
