$14. in change stolen from him
Monday morning. The money
was in a shot sack and was taken
from a counter in the store,
where Mr. Baker halitout making
change tor a customer. It is
thought that he forgot to put it
back in the till after counting out
the change.
?The many friends in Lancas
tor, her old home, will regret to
learn that Mis9 Mary B. Ilam
mond, who now lires with her
sister, Mrs. Meng, at Locahart,
has been desperately ill, and
though somewhat better when
heard from a few days ago, her
condition is still critical. She
was attacked with the grip just
before the holidays.
?Lee Mcllwain, colored, undertook
to drive across Rum
creek, just beyond Mr.B. H. Bennett's
place in the Jones Cross
Roads section, last Saturday
afternoon wjiile the stream was
swollen by heavy rains. His wagon
was upset and he and his
mule had a narrow escape from
drowning. The contents of the
^ wagon were washed down the
creek, but everything was recovered
except a sack of flour.

Mr. J. llarvey Flynn, a former
citizen of this county, now living

first visit here in three years and
