At its meeting in Columbia
Friday the State board ot education
approved of about 35 ap
plications tor high schools,
among them Lancaster's. The
total number of applications
favorably acted upon by the
board this year is 53. The approval

several changes be made in the

tremity southward as far as
council may deem proper in direction
of Emmons branch on
the east. On the west a line
should be dropped to take in
about half of Midway and cross
the Southern r\ilwav. Then, it
said line extended will fake in
too much oi the Mill village, retract
a certain distance and run
southward towards Emmons
branch and thence meet the line
of eastern boundary.
We are inclined to favor this
proposition, but believe that
the council will do what is right
on the line ot thought here suggested.
Wo are not hide-boui d in the
matter: but we t olieve in extension
pr iperly administered.
If member< of council will accept
the proposition, the pre
liminnry survey will not cost a
ceni; and we hope it will be
done.
