, state tey?-ral dayp. I am within
three milt a of Louisiana. I am
haying a g< od meeting; am preaci ing
day and night. I will begin
a meeting next Sunday oyer in
Louisiaua. 1 have a fine little
saddle pony to ride aa long as 1
remain here.
I like this country and the
people are aa clever ae they can
be. I came out here to see my
father and mother and my J
brother, who moved from Lancaster
county, S. C., three years
ago to this county. They have
a tine farm and are doiug well.
The land makeR a bale of cotton

any manure. But it would not
buit me to live out here. The
country is too thinly fettled fot
me. I want to live where men
uud women and children live, for
i* takes them to make a good
country, according to my view.
As 'or making a living farming,
here is the place.
Hogs and cows run at, large
here. They are not fed winter
or summer in some place*. Hogsare
fat in the woods. Cows ar<
about as high in price here as in
our country?North and South
Caroliua. 1 tell these people
that.it is strange that they ask so
much for their cows, when it
costs nothing to keep them. They
say that is the reason they ask so
much for their cattle?that if it
cost them anything to keep them
they would 6ell cheap. Since
the cows support themselves
their owners can afford to keep
them, 1 am told.
I will be over in Louiaiana
next week. I am going to visit
Oklahoma, Indian Territory and.
New Mexico before I return
home. I have a furlough from
home for 80 days. I will write * .'
