whether or not a High School
shall be established in the Town of
Lancaster, as provided by an act
of the State Legislature, approved
Feby. 19;h 1907. Entitled "An act to
provide High Schools for the State."
Notice is hereby given that said

I
To Regulate the Running of
Motor Vehicles.
Be It oidained by the Town Counoll of
Lancaster, in Council assembled, and
by the authority of the same:
Section I. That no person shall /

regard to the traffic and use of the
streets and their condition, or so as to
endanger the life, limb or property of j
any person, or in any event at a greater

Hectior. 2 Upon approaching a
cross street a person operating a motor
vehicle shall have it under control, 1
ami.operate it at a tate of speed no
greater than five miles an hour, and
shall give u signal with a horn or hell
at least fifty yards from ssid cross

Section 8 A person operating a
motor vehicle shall, at the request, or
upon signal, by putting up lh? hand,
from a person riding or driving a restive
horse or h-Tses, or other draft
animals, bring such motor vehicle to
a stop, if necessary, having due regard
for persons, vehicle and animals, and
if traveling in opposite directions remain
stationary so long as may be
reasonable to allow such horses or at imals
t?? pass, and if traveling in the
same direction, use reasonable caution
in thereafter passing such horses or
animals: Provided, iliat if such horse
or animal ^appeals badly frightened,
or ire is requested to do so, the persou
operating such motor vehicle, shall
cau-e lite motor of such vehicle to
cease running so long as shall be reasonably
ueceseary to pteve.tt accident,
and insure the safety of persons, vehicles
ami animals.
Sec ion 4. Whenever a person op
ere ting h motor vehicle shall meet on
said streets any other person riding or
ilrivlng a horse or horses or other
draft animals, or any other vehicle,
the person operation: such motor vehicle
shall reasonably turn the same

Any person operating a mot-r
vehicle shall, on overtaking any such
horse, draft animal, or other vehicle

possible, turn to tire right, so as to
allow free passage on tire left. Any
person operating a motor vehicle shall,
at the intersection of two streets, ke? p

left.
Section 5. Every motor vehicle
while in use < n tire streets of said
Town shall he provided with good
and sufficient brakes, and also with a
suitatde bell, horn or other signal, and
l>e so constructed as to exhibit during
the period necessary, from or ?.fter
sunset, until not neces-ary before
sunrise, a white light within a reason
able distance in the direction toward
which the vehicle is proceeding, and
a red light in reverse direction.

An Ordinance.
To Prohibit the Drinking of
Alcoholic Liquors in Public
Places and Receiving and
Keeping Same for Unlawful
User
Be It ordained bj the Mayor and Aldermen
of the Town of Lanoaster,
In Council assembled* and by the
authority of the same.
Section 1 That it shall be unlawful
for any person to drink any alcoholic
liquors in any store, restaurant, livery,
or sale stab'e, blacksmith or wood
shop, or any other public place, within
the corporate limits of the Town of
Lancaster. That it shall be unlawful
for any person, firm, or corporation, or
other owner of any such place or
places, to permit or a low, the drinking
of any a cotiolio liquors in any
suob place or places.
That all places where persons are
permitted to resort for the purpose of
drinking alcoholic liquors are hereby
declared nuisances and the keeper,
manager or own?r of any such piace
shall be liab e to the penalties hereinafter
set forth.
Section 2. That all alcoho'ic liquors
in possession of any person, firm or
corporation f<>r un-awful use shall be
seized without warrant, and if no action
is commenced for the recovery
of same, within thirty days from such
seizure, or if such action l>e begun,
and the judgment of the court be adverse
to the plaintiff,then such liquors
shall be destroyed, publicly, by the
sheriff of the County or by the Chief
of Police of the said Town.
Section 3 That it shall he unlawful
for any person, tinn or corporation to
sell, offer for sale, or so'icir the purchase
o'. any alcoholic liquors anywhere
within the corporate limit* of
sa'd '1 own.
Section 4. That every person who
shall, directly, or indirectly, keep or
maintain by hirmelf, or by associating
with others, or who shall in any manner
aid, assist or abet in keeping or
maintaining any club room or other
place in which any a coho'ic liquors
are received or kept for unlaw'ul use,
barter, or sale as a beveiage, or for
distribution or division among the
members of any club or association by

who shall receive, barler, sell, assist,
or ahet another in receiving, bartering
or selling, any alcoholic liquors,
so received or kept, shall be liable to
the penalties hereinafter set forth.
Section 5. 11 shall be unlawful for
any club, company, association, or
corpora:ion, or any chartered company
now in existence, or hereafter
to be incorporated, for social, literary,
or other purpose, within the Town of
I-ancaster ?o buy, sell keep for sale,
exchange or barter, any a cohdio
liquors f r any purpose whatever,
either ro members or to other persons;
and any member or members knowingly
belonging to any club, company,
association or corporation receiving
nod dispensing intoxicating liquors,
shall he liable to tbe penalties hereinafter
ppt forth.
Section 6. Upon sflldavit, which
may be on information and belief, to
the ett'ect that contraband liquor is
beipg unlawfully concealed, kept or
stored in any place, a search warrant
may be issued by the Mayor ot said
Town, empower ing any policeman, or
other person who may b?? deputized, to
enter the said place by day or night,
and to search the said premises for
the purpose of seizing the said contraband
liquors therein concealed,
kept, or stored, which said liquors,
