Mi. Glenn A. Rammer, of Gad-den, uncle ot Mrs. Marion Witlierspoon of this place, died Sunday in Hot Springs, Ark., where he had gone on account ol his eyesight. His death resulted, however, from an attack of cholera morbus. Mr. Kaminer was one of Richland county's leading and most influential citizens. He was largely engaged in the banking and mercantile business and also farmed on an extensive scale. He is survived by a widow and four children. The Killiuq uf Mr. James T. His slayer was a negro, Jeff Murphy, who is now iu jail at Wiunsboro, having gone there and voluntarily surrendered. It appears from what we have been able to learn that at an early hour Friday morning MrThomaasoa went to a negro house in the vicinity of Great Falls to get a gun upon which he had a claim, the negro in whose pos session it was supposed to be having been at one time a tenant on Mr. Thoinasson's place. Not finding the weapon Mr. Thoiuasson went to the house of another colored man in the neighborhood, where he suspected that it was concealed. In prosecuting his search for the gun he raised or 'started to raise some bedding, when a woman in the h< use jumped up on top of the bed and ! forbade him to take ofF the cov ering, sayiug that, there were some things under the bed which a man had no business to see. Mr. Thomasson shoved her aside with a gun which he had in his hand, and in doing so he made a slight abrasion of the skin on her forehead. As he warded her off he was shot in the head and instantly killed by Murphy, who was in the house at the time, though it is not 1 thought that Mr. Thomasson was aware ot his presence Mur.
