Orphans' "Work-Day.
^ Brethren ot the press, please
tell the Udinus to everybody in t
the State t bat Orphan work-day i
fallsmti>i mont ? of September, t
And that means that everyho iv ii
will set a part a day in ilus y
mou'h to help the orphan ins i p
tutious with their wane or salary ti
or income of that day. For the ii
Sunday School children, Satur tl
day the 2lst, or if more conve- a
nient the 28th is fixed. Cotton *
will be ready lor piokiug and it K
will be easy to mttMl a d;ty of it. d
Collections on the Sabbath fob a
lowing. But this day is not for li
children only. Old f dks make tl
more money than children and 11
money is what, the orphans must 11
have for their education. In the c
various institutions ot the State, o
dependent upon Christian men p
and women tor support there are n
hundreds of orphans; the Thorn- t
well Orphanage at Clinton, S. C c
has 260; the Epworth Orphanage (
at Columbia has nearly 200, and
t- the Oonuie Maxwell at Green- .
b
wood has more than that uum- y
ber. All these need help. And v
there are others. It is hoped
that September will result in 0
great good to the orphans. It
will be ii all lend a helping hand.
But let each reader of those line*
say "it. does not matter what
others are doing, I am going to
send my help and give my day's
work," and depend upon it, our
fatherless children will be the
better off for it.
