A Farmer Who Believes in
Florodora Cotton.
*4R. L. F." in Southern Cultivator.
1 have made a fairly good crop
this year ; have plenty of hog
and hominv. I nlnnt the Flnro.
dora cotton?have n<>t plan'ed
auy other for four years and
have always gotten*as much as
live cents premium over the short
cotton until this year; 1 have
gotten from 17 1 2 to 20 cents
for tliis cotton?8 to 10 cents
more than the common cotton.
There will he a great deal ol i'
planted in this county next year,
1 am sure. I will be able to se'l
all my seed for $1.00 perbushei.
I see in the Cultivator that Mr.
C. E. Kagan of Conyers, says he
got for his 15 1-2 cents; you see
the difference in his s ?ies and
mi ue. Now I find v\i!h the
same land and everything else
being equal it will make about
the same number of pounds of
seed cotton as the Pehc ?n, and
it wil' about third itself. I gin-;
tied l,oou pounds an i made
pounds ol lint. It requires no
more cure than any o: her cotton
and the easiest picked of any
cotton I ever picked. In ^oi'd t
land with tlie use of four hundred
pounds of high-grade guano
I made three bales on three
acres ; so you see tha' is not so
bad; $100.00 per acre counts
up right fast. I have been improving
tn)' seed tor the last thr?e
years, and they are at least lif-|
ty per cent better than when 1
got them, and strange to say,!
while it. is easy to pick, it dues!
not blow out I am so well pleased
with it tnat 1 will not plant:
any other. We expect to get bet-;
ter prices another year by forming
a combine and getting 300 j
or 400 bales together.
When to Sow Timothy.
Please inform us, through the
columns of your paper, what
time to sow timothy grass, and
how many seed should he sown
to the acre ? We have some lich
bott ?mland. I wish to raise some
hay.
Riddick Hofler.
