The chummy relations between
Senators Spooner and Tillman
have often been commented on
in the press dispatches sent out
from Washington, but no one
need fear that our senior Sena
tor will resign on account of
lonelinss in Washington after
the retirement of the Wisconsin
Statesman.
The retirement of Senator
Spooner, from the U. S. Senate
after sixteen years of service,
leaving two years of the last
form for which he was elected
unexpired indicates that he has
probably fou??d a more lucrative
job?perhaps as attorney for
some of the big corporations of
the country. However that may
be, tiiore will bo regret that he
retires to privaie life. He *\;t?
one of the brainiest men in the
Senate, and the ablest debater
on the Republican side.
?Mr. II. L. Kirstein, one of
the firm of L. Kirstein & Co., ol
Portsmouth, Va., who is conducting
the ' crushed sale" of E. E.
Cloud, will leave Saturday for

1907, the following Preamble and Resolutions
were unanimously?adopted.
Whereas, in the providence of Qod, "the
giver of nil good gifts and graces," this
Lodge is called upon to express its sense
of loss in the deuth ou the 2th of January
19>?7, of our Past Master, Dr Wm M.
Crawford, to whom, after "Lifo's fitful

to such as are "Weary aud heavy laden

Not alone as a Mason does this l<odge
give expressi >n to its sense of his worth as
such I lie obligations ol every time man
were felt and appreciated by our brother
in all the relations of lifs. A faithful friend,
generouR, chaiituble, and sympathetic;
none told of their distress to friendlier
ears; none responded more promptly to
tlie call lor Help Mindful, therefore of our
limits in giving it<le<iiiHlo expression to an
earnest desire on the part of this Lodge
for some record however slight, of the
merits of^uir deceased brother, it is
