As is well known, Mr. Wil
liams is a son of Judge and Mrs.
D. A. Williams, of this place,
and is one of Lancaster's brightest
and nr.ost promising young
attorneys, being a member of the
law tirm o! Williams & Williams
Miss Bailey. the prospective
bride, is a daughter ot Mr and
iMr.s. I'utsy Silas Bailey, ol Clin
ton. She has many friends and
admirers in Lancasier, where she
has vitited.
Negro Lynched for Usual
Crime.
Valdosta,Ga.,Nov.lO.?A mob of
several hundred white citizens
from the northern part of Madison
county, Florida, went to
Mad ison, the county stat. last
night, after disarming: the jailer,
secured a negro prisoner charged
with assault on Miss G rambling,
a young white woman near Hanson.
The crowd took the negro
a short distance from jail, where
they hanged him to a tree and
riddled his. body with bullets.
The negro had been identified
and confessed his crime.

Pet Deer.
New York, Nov. 12.?It was
definitely established today at
Monfclair, N J , tha' a pet buck
deer killed Herbert Bradley, a
wealthy fl >ur exporter whose
dead body was found last night
on the preserves at his home
there. D.puty County Physician
Simmons, ol Oauge. found that
Mr. Bradley's death was due
primarily to the deer's ripping
open an artery in his hip. The
horns of the buck were found >o
be covered with blood.

He Died in Rock Hill Hospital
at Early Hour Yesterday

who, an pnblishe I in the last issue
of The News, whs shot in Ileath
Springs last Thursday by his
brother-ill law, Mr. John A.
Bridges, died yesterday morning:
?t 3 o'clock in the Rock Hill
hospital, where he was carried
for treatment the night after he
was wounded. His left arm was
a input a'ed Fiiday, and the shot
and shattered bone removed frr m
the right arm. but his condition
continued to grow worse until
death relieved him of his suffering
at the hour sta'ed.
Dr. McDow was a son of 'lie
late Dr Robert 8. McDow, and

He was horn in Tennessee
anil wi\s' ah tut 35 years of aire.
When lie was quite voting his

Dr. \IcDow graduated in medicine
in Memphis, Tenn , in 1893,

went to New York and took a
post-graduate course, lie located
in Lancaster about four ve trs
a.io, where he practiced his profesMon
up to the time of his
death. He was a man of brilliant
nrnd and was skilled in
his profession, lie leaves a widow,
w;to was Miss Mary Bridges,
daughter of Mr I .1 Bridges, of
ilie Heath Springs section, and
four children.
The remains of Dr. McDow
were brought to Lancaster from
Rock Hill, yesterday afternoon,
on the Southern's passenger
:rain, and interred in the new
cemetery, with tlie impressive
burial service ot the Woodmen
of the World, ot which Order
Dr. McDow was a member.
Strange Disease in Texas?
