the one hundredth anniversary ^
of the dedication ot the tirst
Methodist Church in Indiana.
The building, a small log structure,
is still carefully pieserved,
though sonic wli;?t dilapidated,
on its original site at Charlestown.
Ill general appearance i' resembles
other log cabins, and ,
as far as any attempt at church (
archil eci ure is concerned it
might as well have served for i. j ^
jail as tor a church. It dates back |
to a period loufi before the advent
in Indiana of .-lone walls,
fresco d ceditifis, stained irlass
windows and lo ty spires. It was ~
a most insignificant structure in ^
appearance, tut its erection was.

Augusta, Ga., Herald : The entire
Beech Island was shocked
yestesday uftenoon when it was
learned that the little daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. F. LI. Ilankinson
' had met a tragicdeath by drowning
in tub of water.
Eugenia liunkinson, the one|
year-old daughter of the family,
was a bright little girl and had
just reached that age where
every anile and every action excited
admiration and made new
friends. She was just beginning
to respond to the caresses that
had been lavished upon her by
affectionate parents for twelve
months.
The little girl was just beginning
to walk, and the sunshine of
outdoor life tempted her on many
occasions to play in the shrub

h-er and away to unknown bound

Yesterday afternoon about 3
i o'clock the sun shone brightly
i and childish dreams beckoned
little Eugenia out into the yard

| made her way down the steps
and into the yards, where, as the
afternoon advanced, a tragedy
! w:e to be enacted that would
well nigh break the heart of the
mother, and bow tlit* lather in
grief.
At j'Jht a moment, when the
watchful eyes of the mother were
not on the ehihi, Eugenia espied
j a small tub in the yard and todilled
to it. W ith a child's cm iosity,
she grasped the edges of the tub
and looked down into the still
water, and in some inexplicable
manner fell into the t ub and was
| drowned.
