condition ol tree delivery routes
in all the Southern States during
first seven mon'hs ol the
present year.
South Carolina had a total of
1,230 petitions rolerred for action,
and of these there were 554 adverse
reports; routes now in

Virginia had 1,710 petitions
referred, with 736 adverse re
ports; routes in operation, 842,
petitions, pending 132.
North Carolina had 2,346 petitions
referred, and had 1,056
adverse reports made. There are
now in oporation in the State
1,156 petitions pending.
Alabama filed 1,630 petitions
and received 717 adverse reports.
There are now in operation in
that State 720 rout?s and 193
petitions are pending.
Florida tailed the list with
only 151 petitions tiled, and ol
this nuinbar thirty-nine adverse |
reports were had. There are
sixty-six routes in operation in)
the State and forty-six petitions
are pending.
Georgia tiled 2,784 petitions,
more than any other Southern)
State, and there were 1,1(Y7 ad I
verse reports. There are 1.338

Sunday News : An altercation
took place tit the beer dispensary
in Camden this morning between
Xlr. P. P?. IIilt"ii, the dispenser,
and Mr. John Hough, formerly
county dispenser. After a rough

Mr. Hilton went back into the!
dispensary and Mr. Hough lol-I
lowed him. Mr. Hilton turned
on imn and shot him twice, one
ball striking him in the hand

were arrested and were
discharged upon giving bond.
