the able and estimable president
of the Daughters ol the Confederacy
and Mrs. Lizzie Cauthen
is the capable and accomplished
secretary.
The committee of arrangement
deserves credit for the
success of the reunion. Commander
Porter; Capt,. ,J. Q.
McMuius, Adjutant Jones and
Mr. VV. T. Vanlandingham constituted
the committee. Many in
Charleston pleasantly remember

Lancaster is a prosperous and (

say that 1 spent a very pleasant
(lay about six miles in the county,
on tho 251 h instant, at the
home ot Mr. and Mrs Alec Steele,
where I had been cordially in- 1
vited to attend a reunion of the <
family. We left Lancaster at
8 :30 o'clock and arrived at the
home ot Mr. and Mrs. Steele at
10. We were met and greeted
and gladly received by the family I
and guests who had already ar- (
rived. We spent several hours
pleasantly discussing farming,
and ot course we discussed poli \
tics to a tiniflli. J
At about 12:30 o'clock a table i
about 30 leet in length was erect
od across I ho back yard, under |
some beautitul shade trees. The j
good ladies proceeded to spread
4^ out on the table the most deli- 1
cious things to eat, covering the 1
table troin end to end. About I ]
o'clock, at the sound of the bell, j
we all formed in line and march- ,
ed to the table. A blessing was
pronounced and then we proceeded
to help ourselves, until the _
pnuer man was fully satisfied? J
After dinner a few more hours <
were spent in pleasant conversa- (
tion ; then the crowd began to (
disperse and take up the journey 1
