Woman in Weil.
A Farmer, whose Wife had
been Missing for a Week,
Finds Body in Well on
Premises.

State: At an early hour this
morning the dead body of Mrs.
White Hamilton was found in

where it hail been since last
Tuesday morning.
On that day Mr. White 11 am
ilton. a farmer living about two
miles from Dillon, came into
Dillon bringing with him his
little daughter, the only child,
leaving the wife and mother
alone. She had expressed some
opposition to haying the child
accompany the father, fearing as
she said that the horse might
become frightened at the automobiles
and the child be injured,
and even said if the father persisted
in carrying the little girl
she would leave home. Mr. Ham
ilton playfully and banteringly
offered her $10, saying he bet
she wouldn't leave.
When he returned home a few
hours later there was no trace of
his wile. lie saw that she had
evidently changed her clothing
and he lound the $10 sticking in
the lob pocket of the pair of
pants he had laid aside that
morning.
By having changed her dress
the impression was made that
she had left home, but the most
diligent search failed to give the
slightest clue to her whereabouts.
Very early this morning the
distracted husband, who since
the mysterious disappearance ol
his wife, while not away hunt
ing lor hor, has been staying at
his father's only about 400 yards
away, walked over to bis home.
Mechanically perhaps going to
the well to water his stock, the
gruesome spectacle of the dead
body of his wife floating on the
top of the water, met his horrified
gaze, dead nearly one
week.

The annual meeting of the
Waxhaw and Shiloh Bible S >ciety
was held last Saturday, at old
VVaxhaw church. An excellent
address was delivered by the
Rev. J. T. Dendy, of Kershaw.
The collection amounted to $61.
The old ollicers were reelected for
the ensuing year.
