A bold thief entered the dwel- .
ling of Mr. W. B. Oauthen Tues- *
day night and stole Mr.Cauthen's i
purse, containing $14.60. The .
purse was taken out of Mr.
Cauthen's trousers' pocket and
the loss was not discovered until
the next day. The money has 1

Mr. Joseph lv. Sistare, a well
known and highly respected
young citizen of the Douglass
.section, died at 5 o'clock yester- '
? day morning, of fever. He was '
a sou of Mr. W T. Sistare and '
was about 30 years of age. lie
leaves a widow, who waa Miss j

Mr. Sistare was a good, upright j
man and an industrious farmer. 1
He leaves a large circle ot friends
to lament his death. The remains I

The Tirzah Bible Society will
hold its annual meeting the last
Saturday in next month. The
Rev. Paul A. Pressly, pastor of
the A. R. P. church of Lancaster,
has accepted an invitation to
deliver tho address. Referring to <
his acceptanee, the Waxliaw En
terprise says: All those who
have heard R?v. Mr. Pressly
will be glad t'? embrace this opportunity
of hearing him again.
He is a very able and entertain
imr speaker. The committee appointed
to secure a speaker for
that occasion were verv fortunate
in securing Rev. Mr. Presslv.
Mr. .7. M. Carson's Father Dead. I

father of Mr. J. M. Carson of
Kershaw, died bast Saturday, at
his home in Bethesda township,
York county. The burial was on
Sunday in INiiladelphiacemetery,
the llev. J K Hall conducting
the funeral services. In noting
Mr. Carson's death the Yorkville
Enquirer, says:
Mr. Carson was a native of
Chester county, being born oni
Sandy liiver 011 August 27,1
1817. Me lived most of his lite j
in York County, and at the time
of his death was aged 88 years,"
8 months and 26 days. He is
survived by the following children
: Messrs. Jatnes M. and
John F. Carson, Mrs. Ida Carson
j and Miss Laura Carson.

begin the holding of union services
tomorrow night, continuing
through the remaining summer
