Adams Must Hang?Final
Decision of Supreme Court
in a Notable Case.

he shot down in the field after
looking him up with a shot gun
for that purpose, is finally to
hang for his crime, the supreme
court today having reversed the

Adams has had some novel
experiences since his trial and
conviction In the first place he
was allowed to escape from jail,
and lie continued not only to
live in the county, but he carried
on farming operations, hiding
out as circumstances required.
He sent word that it would be
dangerous for any one to attempt
to take him. Finally a well
armed sherilFa party surprised
him and captured him.
Human Flesh Sold for Pork
--A Horrible Story.
Lisbon, March 8.?Advices received
here from Buenos Ayres,
Argentine Republic, state that a
Portugese meat dealer, named
Jose Modeiry, had been arrested
there charged with murdering
men and women and then selling
their flesh as pork. Modeiry
did a flourishing business until
he fell into the hands of the law

customers learned thev had been
eating human flesh they fried to
storm the jail and lynch the
prisoner, but the police prevent

wreaking vengeance.
Four Children Bitten by Dog.

Atlanta, Ga , March 7.?Four
children of Mrs Mollie Harper,
of Rut ledge, Ga., were brought
here this morning and placed in
the Pasteur institute.

Three Horses Burned to
Death.
Early this morning the barn
of Mr. 1 lev ward (Jreen was
burned, and the loss was quite
serious, besides the building
and other contents, three horses,

lives a short distance out east of

Excitement in Chesterfield
over Mad Dogs.
Monroe Enquirer, 8th inst.
Mr. J. A. Arant of Chesterfield
county, S. C., is here today ^
and reports that, a mad dog

hogs and one ot his cows have ?
died of hydrophobia and he
fears that, other live stock was *bitten.
Hydrophobia in the
hogs developed in from 9 days to
4 weeks and in the cow in about
3 weeks alter being bitten. A
meeting of citizens w?>s called
after the mad dog passed through
the community and it was
agreed to kill every dog that had
been bitten and quite a number
were killod, but it is feared that
some escaped. We will say in
this connection that no man has
any kind of right to let a dog
