! Tillman on the Morris Incident?Makes
Sensational
Speech.
Washington, Jan. 17.?The
I recent forcible removal Irom the
White IJouse of Mrs. Minor
Morris was made the subject of
emphatic denunciation by Mr.
Tillman in the Senate to<lay.
Ilis remarks called out remonstrances
Irom Messrs. Hale,
Hopkins and Daniel, and led to
the very abrupt closing of the
doors and the sudden adjourn
ment ol the Senate in the raid
die of the afternoon.
The speech abounded in Mr
Tillman's peculiar expressions
ana was characterized by man.',
severe ana ? x:epti<>nally personal
thrusts at the President.
At times he wept over what lie
regarded as the indignities to
Mrs. Mooris and his eyes were
full of tears when he declared
in the face ol protests Irom his
fellow-Senators that he would
demand an investigation of the
White House incident.
Card of Thanks.
Please allow me through your
columns to give expression to
my gratitude and my high appreciation
ot the kindness, help
and sympathy ol my neighbors
and iriends in the great sorrow
and bereavement that has come
into my lite and home. May
God bless yon all, and when soriow
and trial comes, may you all
receive the same kind sympathy
and help extended unto me.

Meeting of the Cruufonl Hook

Tho Oranford Club met Wednesday
afternoon with Mm. L.

entertained by the
charming hostess. Dainty refreshments
were served at the
conclusion of the 'literary programme,
which was as follows :

Tribute of Respect to the Memory
of Mrs. P. T. Twitty.
Many hearts were saddened
with a cloud ol sorrow, when it
was known that Mrs. P.T.Twitty
naa passed over the "beautiful
river." Mrs. Twitty died on
the last dav of the .vear, Dee.
31, 1905, leaving a heart broken
husband and seven devoted children.
She was sick for over a
year, but was confined to her bed
only a few days belore her death.
She was never known to complain,
but alwajs looked forward
to the time when she would be
well again, but God, in llis m.vs

Death lows a shining mark,
and so often 'he good, the true,
and the beautiful are taken first.
As a friend, Mrs. Twitty was
strong and firm; as a wile,
trno and faithful; us a mother,
devoted and tender. She had
such a modest, bright and
happy disposition thai "none
knew her but to love her, not e
named her but to praise her."
She did rot le iye one bh?t or
slain upon her beautiful life or
fair name. She never apoUe an
unkind word ol any one, but always
looked for that which was
good in anyone. She was a faithml
member of the Heath Springs
Baptbt church and of the Woman's
Missionary Society. Before
her health failed, her place
was never vacant, but she was
ever ready to acs;st in any good
work. But she is gone?gone in
tlie midst of her use uiness,
gone when it seems we needed
her most. We know not why it
came, but God knows;?let thai
suiiice. He who lias | ower to
wound, has also power to heal.
She now rests from her labors
and her go'd works will follow
her. In consideration of the
above facts, we offer the follow
ing resolutions :
I. That in the dealli of Sister
Twilty the W. M. S. of the
lleath Springs Baptist church
has lost one of its most faithful
and attentive members.
II. That be ieving in the wisdom
and love of our Heavenly
l a*her we bow in humble submission
to His will, lor he doedi

III. That we extend our heart

family, and pray lor God's grace
to r? st upon them, which is suf
