An Ordinance to Raise Sup4-u^.

Commencing January
1st, 1906.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Aldermen
of the Town of Lancaster, S. 0., in
Council assembled, and by the authority
of the same, to provide for supplies nud
necessary expenses of the town:
Section 1. 1 hut the following tuxes be
and are hereby levied lor the tiscul year
lit. t?. that is to say:
1st. A tax of tifty cents on each $100 00
of the value of all real and personal property
within the corporate limits of the
towu of Lancaster, S 6., due and payable s
between the first uu<l thirtieth days of _
November. l'JoO. at the ottiee of the town
Treasurer; and all taxes due and remaining
unpaid on he first da\ of December.
19' 0, shall be subject to a penalty of fiftewn (
per cent, tor the non-payment of taxes
when due. And the town Treasurer, after 1
default in the payment of said taxes, shall ]
issue execution to any l'olieetnau of the ]
town or Sheriff of the County for the deli'pient
taxes, costs and penalties, follow- '
iug the mode for collcctii g delinquent 1
taxes as now provided ny State laws.
Section 7. All able bodied male per- '
sons between the ages of eighteen and
fifty y?ars, residing within the corporate
limits of the said town, not exempt
from road duty under the laws of the state,
shall work the streets, pavements, ways

tinn of and to tht satisfaction of such |
policemen or overseers as may be appointed
or may have already been appointed
for a space ol time not less than tour days J

Notice is hereby given that, this
office will he open from the 1st day of
.January to the 20th day of February,
190G, for the purpose of receiving the
returns of the taxpayers of Lancaster
Cou nty.
All real estate with improvements
thereon, and all personal property of
every description, must be returned
at its true value in money, and all
persons having such property in their
possession or control as manager,
holder, or as husband, parent, guardian,
trustee, executor, administrator,
receiver, accounting officer, agent, attorney
or factor, on the 1st day of
'anuary, 1906, are required to list the gt
same for taxation within the time required
by law, or incur the penalty
of 50 per cent, which attaches in case
of failure to do so.
