A Tragedy At (iaffney
Theatrical Man Killed and
Another Fatallv \A/nnnded
by a Hotel Manager.
Spartanburg, Dec. 15.?One
man was killed and one wound
ed as the result ot a dilliculty at
GafFney this morning between a
man named llastv, manager ol
the hotel, and members ot the
"Nothing But Money" theatrical
troupe. The shooting was done
by Hasty, who is now in jail.
Night betore last, it is said,
Ilasty insulted one ol tho women
of the show, but nothing was said
about the matter at the time.
Last night, it is alleged, he attemted
to climb over the transome
into the room ol" another woman,
but did not succeed.
This morning Abbott Davison
an J a man named Bonnet t, both
members of the company, told
ILndy that I lie company was
composed of ladies and penile
men and that it was unbecoming
in !)im to act as lie had.
Hasty then invited the men
on the outside to talk tho matter
over and when the open was
reached ho opened lire, killing
Bennett and seriously woundin r
Davision.
The citizens ot (iallney are in
dignant against the liotel man.
Later?Davison has since died
of his wounds.

Outlining the policy of the new
management of the Equitable
Life Assurance Society of the
United States in an address delivered
before a Convention of
Equitable Agents, among other
things says :
