The government's report of the
cotton ginned up to Dec. 1st was
made public yesterday afternoon.
The figures are 8,684,800 bales.
The report caused the future
market to decline about 20
! points, hut part, of the loss was
| recovered before the market closed.

A Small Fire in Town Thursday.
There was an alarm of fire in
town Thursday morning about
10 o'clock. The fire proved to
be on the roof of the Tillman
hotel and was caused by the
burning out of a chimney. The
flames were extinguished before
much damage was rtnno

was some damage by water, however,
in the central office of the
phone company, located in the
second story of the hotel.
The fire, by the way, emphasized
Lancaster's great need of a
system of water works.
The Sick.
Maj. J. M. Kiddle, who has
been quite ill, suffering from an
attack of erysipelas, is rapidly
improving.
Postmaster J. F. Hunter has
been down with the grip for
several days, but is now some
better.

Mrs. J. H. Boidridge, whose
health has not been good for
some time, was taken over to
the Chester sanitarium this week,
for treatment.
Mrs. Mary Thompson of Riverside,
whose critical illness was
recently noted in these columns,
is now much better.

At a regular communication of
Jackson Lodge, A. F. M. held
Thursday night, the following
officers were elected to serve for
the ensuing Masonic year: Paul

Reece Williams, Junior Warden;
T. S. Carter, Treasurer; John A.
Cook, Secretary.
The newly elected officers will
be formally installed on St.
John's day, the 27th instant.

annual meeting of the Grand
