More than 195 students participated in seminars, lectures and on-site tours to learn more about ec onomics and the business system of our country. Bailey Plant Manager Gregg Link and Personnel Director James Buchanan provided information to the students regarding Clinton Mills operations and its role in the business community. During their tours of Clinton and other businesses, the young students learned the value of climate, geographical location, transportation systems, educational environment, recreation and cultural surroundings have on a business. aspects of the five “T” economyinS.C.—textiles, tourism, tobacco, transportation and timber. A highlight of the weektong seminar was an ad dress by Gov. Carroll Campbell who stressed the need to diversify the manufacturing base of the state. He urged the students to continue their educational endeavors in order to meet the technical and educational needs of industry and the business community. Plant Manager Gregg Link outlined the various manufacturing processes at the Bailey Plant in a pre-tour conference. Many students were amazed at the speed at which fiber was transformed into fabric. Clinton personnel answered many questions relating to the com pany’s role in the S.C. business climate.
