Clinton Mills, through the Carolina- Georgia Blood Center, provides unlimited blood replacements anywhere in the United States for the employee; employee’s spouse; and dependents; and if you are single, your parents and parents’ dependents. Also, re tired old-timers are eligible. Sonny King, who coordinates the blood program, noted that “healthy individuals” can donate blood every eight weeks. “The Carolina-Georgia Blood Center pro vides for unlimited replacement of blood or blood components but does not cover the processing fee for collecting, testing, and preparing the voluntarily contributed blood for use by the patient. Most hospitalization insurance carriers and Medicare and Medi caid cover processing costs,” he added. Parmaceutical products manufactured commercially are not replaced by the blood plan but may be covered by insurance car riers as medicine or pharmacy items, through, regular insurance claim procedures. According to King, over 30 employees and their families have benefitted from the Blood Assurance program for many varying medical purposes. “We have had requests ranging from sing le pint replacements up to as many as 21,” he added, “Our plan assures the employee that the blood is available when needed.”
