PROVIEW Goes Into
Unnecessary Hospitalization
Should Be Avoided
If you and your doctor use the PRO
VIEW system, you will save the $200
in non-covered expense which applies
for failure to use PROVIEW. You’ll get
the benefit of professional advice and
save some money.
PROVIEW’s medical professionals
will let you, your doctor, the hospital
and the personnel office know whether
they agree that going to the hospital is
the best choice for you at this time.
However, failure to use PROVIEW
will result in a $200 non-covered ex
pense as previously outlined.
PROVIEW becomes effective May 1,
1986. If you lose your PROVIEW card,
please contact the personnel depart
ment and a new one will be issued.
Clinton Mills wants everyone
to receive the best medical care
available.
Employees Benefit from PROVIEW
Sometimes hospitals are used for
treatments that could just as easily and
safely be done somewhere else at a low
er cost. Clinton Mills wants employees
and their dependents to receive the best
possible care, and to be spared the
pain, discomfort and expense of un
necessary hospitalization.
That’s why Clinton Mills has retained
Provident Insurance Company to pro
vide a “preadmission review” service
called PROVIEW. PROVIEW can help
you decide whether or not hospitaliza
tion is the best choice for you b^jeview-
ing your doctor’s treatment pf^Before
you check into the hospital.
4f you and your doctor use the PRO
VIEW system, you’ll benefit from addi
tional professional advice and save
some money.
If you and your doctor do not choose
to use the PROVIEW system, a $200
non-covered expense will be applied to
your hospital bill.
When your doctor suggests hospitali
zation, you should tell your doctor that
your company participates in the PRO
VIEW “preadmission review” program.
The telephone number and information
requested are listed on your Clinton
Mills PROVIEW ID card.
Your doctor can then call PROVIEW
and discuss your medical problem —
your symptoms and the results of any
tests or X-rays, the name and address of
your hospital and the length of time your
doctor expects you to stay there. Your
doctor should make the call, but you are
responsible for seeing that the review
process takes place. The medical pro
fessionals at PROVIEW will check your
doctor’s recommendation against re
commended standards of treatment
from medical experts across the coun
try. All possible choices for caring for
your condition will be considered to be
sure that you are getting needed medic
al treatment in the appropriate setting.
PROVIEW’s medical professionals
will let you, your doctor, the hospital
and your medical claims payment office
know whether they agree that going to
the hospital is the best choice for you at
this time.
If you or your doctor disagree with
PROVIEW’s recommendation, you can
request a review of your case. The final
decision rests with you and your doctor.
You can choose not to use PROVIEW —
or use it and choose not to follow its
advice.
In case of emergency, you can be
admitted to the hospital right away.
Your doctor has two working days after
your emergency admission to call PRO
VIEW and submit your case for review.
For a maternity admission, your doc
tor should call PROVIEW within 30 days
of your expected delivery date. If you
need to go the hospital unexpectedly,
your doctor has two working days to call
PROVIEW. If your newborn baby must
stay in the hospital after the mother
leaves, the baby’s doctor should call
PROVIEW so a new review can begin for
the baby’s case.
PROVIEW is available if you need to
be hospitalized anywhere in the United
States.
Call PROVIEW (toll-free) from 8 a.m.
to4 p.m. (all times zones): 1-800-621-
4309 or 1-800-228-6016 in Ten
nessee.
Keep your medical ID card in your
wallet so you’ll have this information
available when you need it.
