Bob Hooks Gary Kuykendall
Hooks and Kuykendall
Named to New Posts
R.E. (Bob) Hooks has assumed the posi
tion of Clinton Mills Plant No. 1 Manager,
effective April 1,1986, suceedingS.S. Wil
liams, who retired March 31, 1986.
G. I. (Gary) Kuykendall assumed the posi
tion of Plant No. 2 Carding Superintendent,
succeeding Hooks.
A native of Gastonia, N.C., Hooks is a
graduate of North Carolina State University
and a former officer in the South Carolina
Army National Guard.
Since joining Clinton Mills as a manufac
turing trainee in 1969, he has held numer
ous manufacturing positions in the Clinton
Mills organization. He had been Carding No.
2 Superintendent since January 1978.
Kuykendall is a 1978 graduate of Lander
College, and active in the Clinton Rotary
Club.
He joined Clinton Mills in 1978 as a man
agement trainee. His previous positions in
clude Assistant Departmental Superinten
dent of Bailey Carding and co-ordinator of
various phases of equipment installation in
the Bailey Card Room modernization pro
ject.
Vance
Assumes
New
Position
Russell G. Vance has been promoted by
Clinton Mills Sales Co. to the new position of
administrative manager.
In this promotion, he assumed the respon
sibilities of the former office manager as well
as other administrative functions.
Russell is a native of Clinton and holds a
degree in French from Furman University.
John Wallace

Wallace Promoted
John Wallace has been named Benefit
Plans Administrator, succeeding Hank Cro-
nic, who retired March 31, 1986.
A 1979 graduate of Presbyterian College,
Wallace is a Certified Employee Benefit Spe
cialist and has completed the requirements
to become a Fellow of the International Soci
ety of Certified Benefit Specialists. He has
been with Clinton Mills since 1981.
In his new position, he will be responsible
for administering hourly paid retirement
plan, salaried pension plan and the Profit
Sharing Program.
Wallace also has responsibilities for acti
vities necessary to comply with the Em
ployee Retirement Income Security Act of
1974 as well as supervising the preparation
of the annual employee benefits statement.
Alexander Reeder
Billy Watkins
Warehouse
Jessie Roberson
Promotions Announced
Billy Watkins has been named warehouse
superintendent in charge of Clinton and
Lydia Plant warehousing, succeeding Hall
King who retired March 31 from the Lydia
warehouse.
Alexander Reeder has been promoted to
warehouse and yard foreman at the Lydia
plant. Reeder was previously head ware
houseman at the Clinton plants. He has
been employed since July 19, 1959.
Jessie Roberson has been promoted to
head warehouseman at the Clinton plants.
Jessie, who has been with the company
since December 17, 1970, was previously a
lift truck operator in the Clinton warehouse.
“I am confident these changes will streng
then our warehouse operations. These three
men have many years experience in cloth
handling and cotton storage,” stated Direc
tor of Plant Engineering Silas Campbell
making the announcements. “Their
knowledge of warehousing operations will
permit us to handle these support func
tions in a more efficient manner.”
James W. Long
Long Named Asst.
Superintendent
James W. Long has been promoted from
Spooler Technician to Plant No. 2 Assistant
Spinning Department Superintendent,
Third Shift. Walter Heaton has transferred
from the third to the first to fill the vacancy
created by Estess Campbell’s retirement.
Long, a graduate of Chapin High School,
served two years in the U.S. Army with prim
ary service in South Korea.
He has been with the Company for 15
years.
