Joe and Alice Johnson recently received their gold watches and twenty-five
year service awards. Joseph joined the company December 28,1959, and Alice
came to work December 29, the same year. Taking part in the recognition were
left to right: Billy McGee, Mac George, Estess Campbell, Alice and Joe Johnson
(recipients) and Ted Davenport.
Bailey Scholar on Dean's List
Deryl Lee Craven, daughter of accounting School and attends Clemson on a M. S.
manager and Mrs. Norman Craven has again Bailey Memorial Scholarship,
been named to the Clemson University Asenior majoring in secondary education
Dean's List for outstanding academic with emphasis on English, Deryl plans to
achievement. pursue a Master’s degree curriculum in
Miss Craven is a graduate of Clinton High administration at Clemson this fall.

Insurance Plan, EIN 57-0142910, for July 1, 1983, to June 30, 1984. The

under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA).
Insurance Information
For the period covered by this report, life, health and temporary disability
income claims were paid by Aetna Life Insurance Company. The total amount
paid to Aetna Life which was required to fund the plan was $3,451,708.

Karen King
Assumes
New Position
Karen King, daughter of Sonny and Laura
Jo King was recently promoted to southeast
ern sales manager for McCall’s patterns.
In the four years that Karen has worked for
McCall’s she has been top salesperson for
the year in the U.S.A. and has won quarterly
sales awards.
Along with dressmakers Geri and Robert
McArthur of Atlanta, Ga., Karen has submit
ted dress designs for the McCall's pattern
books. In the current issues of these books
their patterns are numbers 9304 and 9247.
This team enjoyed great success with their
patterns submitted for the 1983 books out
selling the Brooke Shields and Laura Ashley
lines combined.
After attend ing a year at PC and working at
various Clinton establishments, including
Belk’s where she coordinated fashion
shows, Karen graduated from Winthrop Col
lege with a B.S. in fashion merchandising.
She worked for a year with the John A.
Karen King
Brown Store in Tulsa, Okla., and then moved
to Atlanta where she was an assistant buyer
for Davison's before joining McCall's.
Since Karen’s territory covers the entire
southeast from Delaware to Florida, she
leads a busy life of travel, including trips to
New York City to confer with the McCall's
staff there.
Expenses Are Re-imbursed
Fourteen Clinton Mills employees shared
$8,153.59 in educational expense reim
bursements for 1984, according to Training
Director James Buchanan.
Under Clinton Mills educational reim
bursement program the company will reim
burse eligible employees seventy-five per
cent (75%) of the total cost of an approved
course including tuition, registration fees,
books, etc. upon satisfactory completion of
the course of study.
The company’s educational expense reim
bursement policy’s maximum payment to
any employee during any 12-month period is
$1,000.00 and a total maximum reim
bursement of $4,000.00.
A grade of “C” or better is required before
reimbursement will be made.

application for educational reimbursement
should contact to Training Director James
Buchanan. All salaried employees should
make application for educational reimburse
ment through the appropriate vice presi
dent.
There are four types of schools in which an
employee may enroll. These include
approved correspondence schools, high
schools, technical and vocational courses,
and college and graduate school courses.
Employee students enrolled in Piedmont
Technical College and receiving reimburse
ments last year include Rose Pennington,
lab; Harley P. Culbertson, Bailey; William
Osborne, maintenance,- Ricky Patterson,
maintenance; Thomas Prince, No. 2; Mark
Davenport, Lydia; Michael Smith, supply;
Samuel Patterson, Lydia; and Wanda Cape
and Cheryl Sentell, data processing.
Limestone College students include
Susan Moss, shipping; and David Brown,
data processing. John Wallace, office and
Douglas Wynn of Geneva also received reim
bursements for educational expenses. They
attended Presbyterian College and Troy
State University respectively.
