Joshua T. Hamilton
President, Clinton Mills Division
Clinton is committed to continuous training and to providing each Associate with
an opportunity to upgrade skills. This year we will again provide an education pro
gram in which Associates can broaden basic education skills, work toward a uED
or participate in other areas of educational training. During the 1992/93 academic
year, Clinton Mills will offer the most broadened educational opportunities ever to
Associates. This emphasis on educational improvement and training comes at a time
when the skill requirements for most jobs are greater than ever before. New machinery,
such as that now being installed in the Bailey plant, requires a much higher level of
skills than the equipment it replaces.
The expansion of the Bailey plant is on schedule. When complete, Bailey will house
188 Picanol Air Jet Looms serving the Apparel and Home Fashion markets. The Bailey
plant will truly be a world class manufacturing facility.
As we continue our quest to be the Preferred Supplier in the increasingly competitive
textile marketplace, we must do more than purchase new machinery. Quality and ser
vice are our selling points. Quality First Teams have met with much success, but we
must continue to do more. All of us are responsible for quality. . . in our yams, fabrics
and services. Each of our plants in the Clinton business unit is to be commended for
the efforts being put forth to achieve Preferred Supplier status. Changes in the way
we operate are essential, and I’m confident each of us see the benefits of all the efforts
put forth to improve our operations. Thanks to all who have participated on a Quality
First Team, and to all Associates for their support of our quality efforts.
The 1992-93 United Way Drive has begun in Clinton. This year Clinton Mills is
serving as the Laurens County Pacesetter. Your support of this most worthwhile
community effort is necessary for a successful United Way drive. Your generosity
has been outstanding, you have my sincere appreciation.
