Safety & Quality With T-Shirts T-shirts that read “Safety and Qual ity” — Goals for the 1990’s were re ceived by more than 2,500 employees in late June as each recipient gave the company his or her written suggestions on ways to improve safety and quality. Friday, June 22 and Saturday, June 23 were designated as T-Shirt Days and symbolized the employees teamwork in offering constructive suggestions on ways to improve the accident records in the plants and the quality of the pro ducts produced. In a bulletin board communication, President G. T. Williams expressed his sincere appreciation to each person who participated in the Safety and Quality suggestion program. Appropriate members of manage ment have carefully reviewed every form that was submitted. Many of the recommendations have been imple mented and others are being evaluated for their merits. Throughout the company, supervi sion has responded one on one to employees regarding their suggestions as a means of communicating their ap preciation for employee participation. As part of the July and August management and safety meetings, Departmental Superintendents sum marized the employee suggestions regarding safety and quality and ex plained the actions that have been taken on the recommendations.
