Blood—the material which often can be transferred into a sick or injured body to help restore it to health. Blood — an extremely precious commodity in great demand and low supply — especially during natural disasters such as those caused by hurricanes, tornadoes, fire, floods, and accidents. Opportunities to Donate "There are always shortages in blood supplies," says Sonny King who co-ordinates Clinton Mills blood assurance program. "The need is greater at times than others," he added. "Clinton has recently completed a major blood drive and employee donors have responded in an outstanding way." AIDS Fear Unfounded Many employees who at one time or another were hesitant to give blood because of the AIDS fear, have now returned to the donor list. Skilled medical personnel from the Carolina-Georgia Blood Center take great precautions to reduce the risk of AIDS during the blood drive. Always a Need King noted that there is always', a need for blood. Most of the blood Cynthia Salvo gives Bobby Quarles a mini-physical during Lydia blood drive drawn from Clinton Mills employees is used in a short time as area hospitals treat emergency cases, perform multiple types of surgery,or use the substance for manufacturing products. "As the winter months approach, the need for blood increases, noted King. "Employees in our plants have always responded to our plea for donors." Over the years, many employees and eligible employee family members have received unlimited blood replacements by being member of the Clinton Blood Assurance Program. 8
