New Equipment
Inspection frames, winders, slasher installed
Four new inspection frames
Four new Byars three-in-one inspection frames will be installed in the
Plant No. 2 Cloth Room as part of the facilities on-going modernization
program. The equipment will permit inspection, grading, and batching
functions on a single piece of equipment.
A conveyor system will send inspected cloth rolls directly to the ware
house.
The machines will improve the overall cloth room efficiency and
increase the number of yards inspected during a normal operating shift.
Two machines are now in operation and the additional ones will be
added as more air jet weaving machines begin producing fabric.
Nine Murata winders
Nine Murata winders will be installed in Plant No. 2 to provide the
quality yam necessary to support the air jet weaving machines. When the
yam preparation equipment is completely installed. Plant No. 2 will have
seven single and two dual yam cotmt winders in operation. To make
room for the winders, a total of forty-four spinning frames will be
removed from production. The remaining equipment will be operating
additional hours to make up for the production lost.
Yam processed by the winders will be used for both warp and filling
on the new air jet weaving machines.
A new West Point warper has been installed to accommodate warp
beams up to 72" wide. The creel is equipped with an electronic stop
motion which stops the warper drum faster and reduces the amount of
time to locate and repair ends.
The new machine provides great flexibility in beam widths and pro
duces the quality warp required for the air jet machines. Another warper
will be installed in December.
New West Point slasher
Qinton Mills has installed a new West Point slasher to process warp
yam for the 160 air jet weaving machines. The equipment has been
installed in an area within the #3 Weave Room. The 20 can slasher has two
size boxes is capable of handling beams up to 130" wide. Many slasher
parts are enclosed and expected to keep the work area around the slasher
at comfortable temperatures, especially during the summer months.
The slasher is equipped with state of the art electronic electrical com
ponents and will be finked to a high tech computerized monitoring
system that records and controls stretch, moisture content, speeds, and
other data needed to follow the performance of the machine.
