Farm-City Tour Farm-City tour labeled a success They came, they saw. They asked ques tions and were amazed. That was the reac tion of the approximately 40 participants in the Farm/City tour recently sponsored by the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce and Clemson Extension Service as they toured Clinton Mills Plant No.l. Some were farmers, politicians, busi ness people, government employees, but their common interest was to learn more about industry and farming — and the in terrelationship between the two. President Thad Williams, Vice Presi dents J.R. S wetenburg and Claude Crocker, and General Manager Jim Coleman “showed off’ the plant as the plants man agement team stood by to answer questions about the manufacturing processes. The group was amazed as they individu ally listened to employees explain with en thusiasm the operation of the Murata Win ders, Air Jet Spinning, Sulzer Weaving ma chines, and other equipment used in the plants day to day to produce quality fabric.
