Clinton Mills Board of Directors have
promoted four executives to positions of
greater responsibility and named two new
members.
Robert M. Vance, who has served as
President of the Clinton based textile firm
since 1958, has been named Chairman of
the Board and Chief Executive Officer.
He will be succeeded by George H.
Cornelson as President and Chief
Operating Officer.
As previously announced, all plants will
observe Easter Monday, April 16, as a

Eighteen educational institutions in
seven states received a combined total of
$11,460 in contributions from the Bailey
Foundation during the past year under the
provisions of the Matching Gifts Program
for Clinton Mills and M.S. Bailey Bank
employees.
There were 31 employees at four
locations contributing from $10 to $1,000 to
educational institutions.
The Matching Gifts to Education
Program is designed to encourage Clinton
Mills, Inc. its subsidiaries, and affiliated

C. Bailey Dixon has been promoted to
the position of Vice President of
Engineering and Subsidiary Operations,
and Arthur C. Young has been elected to
the newly created position of Vice
President of Marketing.

Vance began his career with Clinton
Mills as a summer employee in 1929. He
has served as its President since 1958. He
is Vice President of Clinton Mills Sales
Corp. of New York and Chairman of the
Board of M.S. Bailey & Son, Bankers,
Clinton, S.C.
His textile, banking, and other business
interests are extensive. He is a Trustee of
the Institute of Textile Technology of
Charlottesville, Virginia, on the Board of
Directors of Textile Hall, ATMI,
Presbyterian College, and affiliated with
numerous other local, state and national
civic, charitable, professional, religious
and educational organizations.
Cornelson had been Executive Vice
President of the Company since 1970. He is

give personal financial support to
educational institutions of their choice
which meet the eligibility requirements.
Such gifts, in amounts of $10 to $1,000 per
calendar year will be matched dollar for
dollar by The Bailey Foundation.
An employee, at the time of his or her
contribution, must be in the active regular
employment of the company, and shall
have had at least one year of continuous
service in such employment.

Industrial Engineering Department. In
1958, he was elected Vice President.
In addition to his affiliation with Clinton
Mills, he is also President and Treasurer
of Cornelson Company, a director of M.S.
Bailey 8c Son, Bankers, and a director of
Elastic Fabrics of America.
He is active in numerous business and

Marvin G. Gault, Jr. has been named
Director of Technical Services succeeding
A. C. Young.

Assistant Director of Technical Services
since September of 1966.
Gault is a member of Broad Street
Methodist Church, and is a past president,
secretary-treasurer, director and
member of the Clinton Kiwanis Club.
A veteran of World War II, he is a
member of the YMCA Building Committee,
and has participated in several
seminars on Occupational Safety and
Health Standards.
He is also a member of the Walter
Johnson Club.

professional organizations.
Dixon will assume responsibility for the
firm's knitting and carpet yarn divisions
in addition to Corporate engineering
functions.
Dixon has been with the Company since
1955 and has held varied managerial and
officer positions in the organization. He is
a Registered Professional Engineer, and
active in the engineering activities of the
American Textile Manufacturers Institute
and the South Carolina Textile
Manufacturers Association.
Arthur C. Young joined the Clinton firm
in 1949 and established the Company's
first Standards and Technical Services
Department.
Young has had extensive responsibilities
including manufacturing and
sales liasion for coordinating production
and sales.
He currently serves as a member of the
Textile Advisory Committee of the Institute
of Textile Technology and is a
member of the Textile Quality Control
Association.
