Doffer Roger Higgins was named Football
Official Rookie of the Year for 1978. This is
an honor Roger had worked hard to
achieve.

football."
"Several years ago, after I came to
work at Lydia, I became interested in
officiating at high school games."
"Truman Owens, Clinton Mills' Benefits
Manager, who is also an athletic
official, helped me very much in becoming
an official."
"1 tiled an application with the basketball
officials' association; attended various
classes, took the exams and finally
became a certified official."
Roger is a member of the High
School's Officials' Associations and officiates
at games within a 150 mile distance
throughout the state.
"I like being an official because of the
excitement on the field. It's just more
enjoyable than being a spectator."
Higgins experiences quite a bit of
pride in his school officials work. "I'm
just glad I can play a part in the
competitive sports which helps develop the
physical and mental characteristics of our
