Price, who has been with Clinton Mills since April 12, 1976 is an electrician on the second shift in the Clinton Plants #1 and 2 maintenance department. "I only completed the 7th grade in school," said Price, "and when I went in the Air Force I completed requirements for a high school equivalence diploma." "After I got my military discharge, I worked for five - . WILLIE BLUFORD Bluford Wants Tg "I want to learn as much as I can about the spinning department," says Willie Bluford, Lydia Assistant Maintenance Technician." In 1969 I graduated from Bell Street High School and worked for about a year before coming to work at Lydia. The past seven years have given me a good chance to learn the operations and equipment and that's what I Br Wfm w 1 >gree years at Joanna," recalled Price. "Several years ago, I decided to go back to school so I could keep up with the changes taking place in the general electrical field," he noted. "It was a difficult course because the only time I had to study was after midnight. A typical day was getting up at 6:30 to leave for Greenwood. I was in class from 8:00 til 3:30 and then had to get back to Clinton to be at work at 4:00 p.m." "This left only a few hours after midnight to study," he added. Earning this degree has been a real accomplishment, and all things considered. it's been well worth the extra effort. I i Learn want to do. Bluford is enthusiastic about his work and plans to take advantage of any chance to learn more about his job and the machinery and equipment with which he works. A Mountville resident, Bluford is married and has one child. His hobbies includes fishing and auto mechanics. Fortney Receives Certificate Wilgus Fortney recently completed a 91 hour Emergency Medical Technician Training Program. The comprehensive emergency medical course was taugnt at ttie Ureenwood Fire Department by Piedmont Technical College. "I've been a volunteer fireman since May of 1972 and it was only natural that I become an Emergency Technician because a fireman never knows what kind 01 emergency he may encounter," added Fortney. In order to get certified as an emergency medical technician, Fortney had to attend classes six hours a week for three months. As an EMT, Fortney, a Clinton shop electrician, is certified to render emergency aid to injured persons as well as cardio pulmonary resuscitation. * Ifc ROBERT WEBB Webb Joins Old Timers Robert Webb. Lydia Slasher Technician, has completed membership requirements for the Clinton Mills Old Timer's Club. "I've been operating slashers for twenty of the past twenty five years," says Webb. When I first joined the company, 1 was a cloth handler, but later transferr ed to the slasher room where I've been ever since. Webb lives at 52 Beech Street, Lydia.
