Crocker Like
"I never wanted to live very
far from Clinton," said William
D. "Bill" Crocker, Bailey Plant
Warehouse and Supply Supervisor,
as he recalled his last 44
years in Ixiurens County.
Bill, a native of Henrietta,
N.C., came to Clinton with his
family in the 30's when his
father, the late H.L. Crocker
joined the Lydia Plant as
Master Mechanic.
"Shortly after we moved to
Clinton, I went to work in the
Lydia Mills Store. In those days,
there was hardly an automobile
in the community, and company
store was a favorite gathering
place for many of the Lydia
employees."
Crocker spent about thirty
five years working in stores in
the Clinton, Joanna, and
Camden area.
"A couple of time, I worked
in the Lydia Supply Room, but
most of my working history was
in various StnrPS " Hp ro^alloJ

Before coming to the Bailey
Plant to set up its Supply Room
in 1967, Crocker was associated
with a Joanna Store for 16
years.
Crocker, a Joanna resident
now, use to play on the Lydia
Mills baseball team, is a
member and former president
of the Joanna Lions Club, and is
active in the Presbyterian
Church.
"I enjoy football, baseball,
and basketball," he continued.
