This month our city's and county's
leading and largest employer, the textile
industry, is conducting Textile Careers
Month, a campaign aimed at
attracting new and prospective employees.
Textile Careers Month is a joint effort
of textile companies to make people
more aware of the challenges and
rewards open to them in an industry
that offers more than just a job?an
industry that offers a career.
Several thousands of our citizens
have found job security and advancement
in this industry and have helped
themselves as well as others in so
doing.
Our local textile industry's multimillion
dollar payrolls are the bedrock
and bellwether of our city's and county's
economy and additionally they have
made many substantial contributions
toward the building of medical, educational,
recreational and youth activities
facilities and the financing of higher
education through scholarships and
grants.
It is fitting that the industry sponsor
and promote Textile Careers Month,
for, the future of Clinton depends
greatly on its textile companies and the
people making their careers here at
home.
