75th Anniver:
Clinton Mills 75th Anniversary year
was an eventful one. The preceding 12
? months of growth and prosperity created
many new challenges and opportunities
for the company.
February 1 marked the beginning of
the year long anniversary celebration.
On this day. over 1700 employees enjoyed
a piece of the company's birthday
cake as Clinton Mills recognized
the contributions of its employees to

v..^ vji itic organization.
Also, during February, the company
announced that eligible employees
P would share in $148,430.03 through the
Profit Sharing and Retirement Plan.
The Clinton Chamber of Commerce
paid tribute to the company and the
Bailey Family in a special meeting
during March.
Later that month, fourteen salesmen
visited the plants for a highly successful
spring sales seminar.
It was also announced durine thn
spring that Clinton Cottons, Inc.. ClinI
ton Mills sales agency, had changed
its name to Clinton Mills Sales Corp.
The New York firm sells the cotton
and cotton blend fabrics produced by
Clinton's four local plants, as well as
the Raschel knits of KFA and the
double jersey knits of Superior Knits.
TEXTILE WORLD magazine paid
special tribute to the company in its
April issue as the publication recoe

textile industry.

of the Year Award in an awards presentation
.. Presbyterian College. Later
in May, Claude A. Crocker, representing
the Bailey Foundation, presented
two 4-Year M. S. Built\v Scholarships
to Janice Pitts and Edith Fallaw. The
scholarships have a value of $4,000
each.

Industrial Relations Workshop at Presbyterian
College during June. Clinton's
Executive Vice President George H.
Cor nelson addressed the opening session
of thu conference. His address
entitled "BUSINESS ADMINISTRA

Youngest of the Professions," drew
much praise from the 400 textile Then
attending.
Summer vacation checks totalling
$125,804.04 were distributed to 1236
eligible employees as the plants observed
the July 4th vacation period.
Employees also reported the summer
vacation more FunPaked as they
enjoyed the special vacation paks
commemorating the company's 75th
Anniversary.
The Occupational Health and Safety
Act became effective in August of 1971.
The law, which affects all employees,
is designed to "assure every working
man and woman in the nation safe and
healthful working conditions . .
Seventeen M. S. Bailey Scholars returned
to college in September. Each
has financial assistance from the Bailey
Foundation.
As fall approached. Clinton Mills
Personnel Department initiated a recruitment
program utilizing employee
referral cards. The system gives employees
an opportunity to refer prospec
live application to personnel for consideration
for employment.
SCHOLARSHI
All prospective applicants for M. S.
Bailey Memorial College Scholarships
are reminded to take the CKEB Collece
entrance examinations in time for results
to be available April 15.

Christmas Savings totalling $286,263.25
were distributed to thrifty employee
savers in November. The
company also announced that Christmas
Savings for 1972 would bear interest
at the rate of 4*4% annually.

inactive Old Timers were honored at
the 16th Annual Old Timer's Banquet
in November. Twenty - two incoming
Old Timers received gold watches for
completion of 25 years continuous
service with the company.
December marked the distribution
of Christmas vacation pay totalling
$79,174.57. This made vacation pay
distributions for the year total $204,978.61.

Changes in
Federal Tax Withholding
According to the Commissioner of
Internal Revenue, important changes
in federal income tax withholding resulted
from the Revenue Act of 1971.

claim the new "Special Withholding
