HOLIDAY SAFETY
Christmas is a holiday of happiness
for all ages, a holiday of the heart.
Cares that have burdened man are put
aside during this happy season of the
year. Streets brighten with festive
decorations. Store windows are ablaze
with every gay color imaginable. Families
and friends share a special closeness.
And homes glow brilliantly with
the shimmering lights of the Christmas
trees.
The kitchen is often the scene of
many minor, and sometimes many
serious, injuries during the holiday
season when it is in use a great deal.
People always like to gather in the
kitchen; but keeping them out will not
only make the task of preparing food ,
easier, it will also make the kitchen
a safer place. Foods should be prepared
ahead of time as much as possible so
as to cut down on accidents caused by
haste; also, for last-minute prepara

or two helpers.
Here are 10 safety rules that will
pay off in dividends of kitchen safety:
1. Close cupboard doors.
2. Turn pot handles parallel to front
of range.
The Meaning of
Christmas
Christmas means something more
than mistletoe and holly, plum pudding
and an array of presents. Christmas
means good will to men. Are we laying
a new store of that valuable commodity?
Christmas means peace on
earth. Are we becoming reconciled to
those from whom we have been estranged?
Christmas means joy to the
world. Are we planning to deepen
the fountains of real happiness for the
unprivileged and unblessed children
of men? Christmas means simplicity, e
child-likeness, humility. When the (
Christmas bells shall ring again, will
these qualities be more marked in us? (
