To strangers and

Procrastination insofar as
vehicle inspections go has
proved costly to South Carolinians
recently, according
to a South Carolina
Highway Department report.
In a two month period,
July 1 and August 31, more
than 3,000 motorists were
charged with violating the
state's vehicle inspection
law, resulting in about
$43,000 in fines.
The large number of
violations in such a short
period indicates that many
owners are forgetting to
have their vehicles inspected
prior to the expiration
periods shown on 1970
inspection stickers, highway
officials believe.
The hole punched in the
vehicle inspection sticker
tells an owner the month
by which he must have
his vehicle inspected. Vehicles

note the 1970 inspection
period will expire this year.
Owners are urged to have
their cars inspected before

stations are busier

of the month and are unable
to drop everything
they are doing and concentrate
on inspections. Also,
repair parts are sometimes
