First, and foremost, make sure that the lens on your camera is clean .. . and free of obstructions. The film can only record what it sees, and lint, dust, thumb prints and old chewing gum that accumulated during last winter's inactivity will not add a thing to that photo of Aunt Gladys in Vinr naiir VI iivn U1IU111. *1 i 1CI1 JTUU clean it, use a soft tissue first to cautiously dust off clinging dust particles. Pictures are more enjoyable when the people featured are recognizable. Third, if you are doing portraits, keep the back- i ground simple. This is proved by the number of people who make their Summer holidays a shortcut to the hospital or the cemetery. TTiere are four big hazards in the typical Ameri can summer vacation. They are: 1. The dangers of overdoing it in the field of hard exercise. 2. The dangers of the highway. 3. The dangers of the sun. 4. The dangers of the water. Many books have been written about each of these types of dangers. But most of the advice that these books contain can be said in just one sentence: "Take it r>asv'" -- J If that sounds too simple, let's take a look at the four hazards. First, what most of us don't realize is that overexercising is a killer. It shows up plenty of bad hearts, too late for doctors to do anything about it. 5 ICE! nts ond photographs ext issue of tt&meUben plans, or of a racant achievement ut sharing with us a recant photo grandchildren. Second, almost every kind of summer activity means some car driving and there's just one proper way to drive. That way is to take it easy, hold speeds down and drive as if the operators of the vehicles you meet on the road are bad drivers. Third, some of us like to lie out on the beach and let the sun toast us a rich tan. That's fine. But take it easy at the start, or that tan will turn to scarlet and you will be another victim of sunburn. Make those first doses of sun short and you will save yourself lots of pain. Fourth, don't try to swim way out in deep water. Make it easy for yourself by never swimming alone. If you take it easy in all water sports, you will not be half-dead afterwards and you will not be all-dead either. So happy vacation to you! Go out and do what you want to do, and have all the fun you can, but remember, take it easy! ?Courtesy of NSC Newsletter
