Miss Marylin Metts of Orlando,
Florida visited her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. William
Metts, recently.
Mack Gaffney recently completed
four weeks of training
at R.O.T.C. Camp at Myrtle
Beach and has now returned
to Clemson College.
Mrs. Ann Ginn has been a
patient at Bailey Memorial
Hospital for several weeks.
Mrs. Dovie English has been
ill for two weeks.
Mrs. Frances King gave a
joint birthday supper SeDtember
5 for Chess King and his
mother, Mrs. Henry King.

1ST SHIFT

Very little news did we get
from our folks this month.
I'm afraid we didn't have
time to get around to all of
them and few of those we did
get to told us anything. But
here's what we learned.
Mr. and Mrs. John Jennings
and six-weeks-old son of Lakeland,
Florida spent two weeks
in September with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Newell
Brewington. John Carrol
Jennings, Jr. was born July
23 and his grandparents hadn't
seen him until they came up.
Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Fowler
and Patsy visited Mr. and
Mrs. Larry Fowler and children
in Denver, Colorado in
August. It was the first time
they had seen the grandchildren
and I'm sure that was a
happy meeting.
Mrs. Becky Cline, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Jennings,
spent two weeks in
Huntsville, Texas visiting

William West and family of
Canton, N. C. visited his sister
and family, Mr. and Mrs.
Stewart Jennings recently.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gibbs went
camping on a recent week end
and it rained.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lanford
and family visited friends in
Walhalla recently.
Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Suttle
and children of Durham spent
a few days with their parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Suttle
and Mr. and Mrs. Charlie
Barker.
Mr. and Mrs. Doug Martin
of Asheville visited the Henry
Suttles on a rececnt week end.
Dave Lawson was called to
Pennington Gap, Virginia due
to the death of his brother-inlaw,
Henry (Joins.
Mrs. Evans Lever was a
surgical patient at Bailey Memorial
Hospital and then after
coming home, fell and broke
an arm. Ethel we hope you're
going to heal quickly and be
good as new again.

Memorial for a week due to a
bad le^. Our best wishes for
his recovery.
Jim Blackwell enjoyed Labor
Day week end at Myrtle
Beach.

spent the week end in Cherokee,
N. C. recently.
Mr. and Mrs. D. D. Ficklin
and family and J. C. Meadors
visited Mr. and Mrs. William
Johnson in Newberry on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Scarborough
of Spartanburg vis
ited Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Dunaway
in Enoree. Also Mr. and
Mrs. Dunaway spent a recent
week end at Myrtle Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. Burton Reeder
flew by Eastern Air Lines to
New Orleans. While there Mr.
Reeder attended the Gibson
Mardi Gras Convention. They
also took the Moonlite Cruise
up the Mississippi River. The
Reeders also visited Mrs.
Reeder's brother. Mr. and
Mrs. Curtis Jackson, and son
who reside in New Orleans.
Mrs. Billy Pitts and children.
Jenny and Anthony,
spent two weeks with her parents
here while her husband
was attending two weeks in
Army Reserve Camp at Fort
Stewart, Georgia. Jimm v
Reeder accompanied his sister
home in Pendleton for a week
end visit.

spent the week end
at Myrtle Beach. Mrs. Yarborough
won the trip selling
World Book Encyclopedias in
a recent sales contest.

Mr. Wardlaw Lancaster accompanied
his son, Nolan, to

Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Phillip
of West Virginia spent several
days visiting the Dorsey
Turners, the Hobart Phillips
and Mr. and Mrs. Burton Phillips.
Mr. and Mrs. James Traynham
spent a weeks vacation
in Key West, Florida.
Mr. and Mrs. Burton Reeder,
while attending the Gibson
Mardi Gras Convention in
New Orleans, had a dinner
engagement one night with
their nephew, Rev. and Mrs.
Billy Harris, who is attending
the Baptist Seminary there in
New Orleans.
Back To School Party
Mrs. Louise Williamson
chaperoned a back to school
party on a Saturday night re
cently at the Clinton Mills
Community House for a group
of bovs and girls going away
to college. Invited guests enjoyed
games, music and refreshments
and group singing.
About twenty boys and girls
were there.
Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Japart
announce the birth of a son,
Barry Gene, on August 14 at
Bailey Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Japart is the former JoAn
Reeder of Joanna. Mr.
and Mrs. Japart have three
other children, Randy, Diane
and Rhnnda
