drink vending machines.
The Lydia installation consists
of four conveniently located
batteries of the most
modern vending machines
available.
Two full-line stations vend
fresh brewed coffee, four
flavors of cold drinks with ice
if desired, milk, sandwiches,
salads, deserts, a variety of
soup i hot in the can), plus
other fresh and wholesome
food items. The first and sec
ond floor locations include a
change machine and condiment
bar. The bar provides
an electric can opener, toaster,
cups for the soup, plastic
spoons, straws, napkins, salt
and pepper, etc.
Employees have well indicated
their approval and appreciation
of the new service.
Many have made favorable
comments concerning the new
convenience.
The new system provides
better service to employees
bv making the items available
at all times. The quality
is excellent since the ma
chines are serviced and filled
daily with fresh merchandise.

The first of 56 new Roberts
Arrow M-1 Microdraft Spinning
Frames will be delivered
in mid-September according
to Manufacturing Vice President
J. B. Templeton. speaking
last week on the building
and modernization underway
in Clinton Plant No. 2.
"These frames, purchased
following extensive running
tests and evaluations in our
Plants, represent the latest in
spinning technology. The 228
spindle frames, equipped with
vacuum end collectors, will
be installed in the new re
irigerated air conditioned addition
adjoining S p i n n i n g
Room No. .3," he said. "These
advanced designed frames
will enable lis to move another
step forward in the qualitv
enhancement of our yarns and
cloth, provide for more efficient
operation, and improve
working conditions. All machinery
purchased in our program
of continuing modernization
must meet these requirements
to justify the expenditure,"
he concluded

roles in the Greater Clinton
Community Chest Drive.
Since its inception, the
Chest has been strongly supported
by Clinton-Lydia employees
with manpower and
money.
Companies' Vice President
George H. Cornelson is serving
the Chest this year as
Vice President. Calvin A.
Cooper. Personnel Director, is
Co-Chairman of the Industrial
Division and coordinator of
our in-plants program. Claude
A. Crocker, Director of Employee
and Public Relations,
has served in most of the offices
in prior years. This year
he is a Director and Publicity
Chairman.
Dates for the annual inplants
campaign will be announced
in the near future.

Textile Industries' Associate
Editor, Milton May, spent
a day at the mills last week
gathering information and
making photographs of Clinton
Plant No. 1. May will prepare
a feature article on the
Plant in a forthcoming edition
of his widely read publication.
