Community Horn The C o m p a n y-sponsored Christmas Home Decoration contest neici irom December 17 to December 24 each year is again being well received in the communitcs. First, Second and third place winners in each community will be awarded beautifully wrapped Christmas fruit cakes. As in past years, all homes in the communities are eligible. Entries will be confined to doorways, windows and lawn or porch. These cards picture hings when the family group ^ vas laigely within 10 miles. a roday our families are inreasingly spread all over the Jnited States. Yet close to us ire our Companies' plants, vhere we work together each lay, and where we have a varm feeling of belonging at Christmastime. May the spirit of Christmas, his sense ol belonging, link is ever closer as a family inspired by that ancient true *ood tiding "Peace on Earth, jood Will to Men." Eugene Johnson, (Romanies' Purchasing Agent, was uest speaker at the Decerned 9 dinner meeting of the ales and Marketing Execuves Club of Spartanburg. Mr. Johnson spoke on "Food or Thought" to the forty-five ales and marketing executes who gathered at the [oliday Inn. "No job has real meaning nless there is a challenge," e said. "In these days of exreme competition, I know of o profession that is more ? .J 3: a 11 u icwdiuiiifj ian that of sales. If you are 3 do your best, you must now what these challenges re and how to meet them." "Gene," as he is known at he mills, was born and reared at Lydia. He first began vork there in 1930. He is a graduate of Presbyterian Colege, a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and a nember of the Clinton Lions Ulub. He and his wife, Melda, aave one son. Johnny, a freshrvi n n at Honrtjia Militamr Academy. Melda teaches at Mercer Bailey Schools. Christmas Operating Schedule The plants will close at 12 midnight.
