This is the sixth year in a row that free flu shots have been offered by the Company for all employees protection and benefit. There's a definite^? advantage to getting a shot each year. Doctors say that people who take flu shots year after year build up a greater immunity to the flu virus with each succeeding year. Epidemic Flu Season Expected The National Advisory Committee on Influenza, a panel of doctors, reported last April to the U. S. Surgeon General: "While accurate predictions are difficult, recent and past patterns indicate that widespread outbreaks of Influenza A-2 (Asian Flu) will occur in the United States during the 1962-63 winter season". The committee said that, following a widespread appearance of the strain in Kus-^fc sia last January, is spread to^P several Far Eastern and Western European nations, and was well seeded in the United States last spring. The experts, themselves, say they have no idea how serious the outbreak may be. But physicians have been alerted, and public health programs have been outlined, and stocks of the special flu vaccine containing a substantial potency against A-2 variety of the disease have been built up. There have been 747 deaths from flu reported in South Carolina in the last five years.
