Mrs. Sarah Jenkins, Douglas DeYoung with Mrs. Jerry Holland and Dean Prick of Seneca attended the Southern 500 Labor Day Stock Car Races in Darlington September 3rd. Mrs. J. H. Crow and Mrs. Sarah Jenkins spent a recent weekend in Maggie Valley and visited Ghost Town. Ethel McLendon and son. James, spent a few days recently in Mt. Vernon. Georgia. ?Mr. and Mrs. Furman Bratcher are on their vacatic . this week and are enjoying a trip to New Orleans. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Patterson attended the Moose Convention in Georgetown August 31 ?September 2. Mr. and Mrs. .Joe Davenport and family attended the wedding of their son. Second Lt. Otis Martin's family increased considerably recently, but unfortunately they were pigs, and he will have fun before very long claiming them as dependents. Bv the way. Otis and his daughter, Peggy, celebrated birthdays this month, the 7th and 25th respectively. Mr. John T. Nelson from Clinton. Oklahoma ic visiting his sister, Mrs. Alice Hughes, and her husband, Robert. Mr. Nelson is in the Army AirForce, and we regret not knowing his proper title. Both Mrs. Verna Nelson and her daughter, Cynthia, celebrated birthdays this month, the 22nd and 7th respectively. Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Smith had as their guests recently her brother and family from the state of Iowa. They are comtemplating making their home in Greenwood. Because of circumstances beyond my control, this is my final contribution as reporter. FOOD FOR THOUGHT: How tired we are depends a lot upon how eager we are to do the task before us. CARDING 1ST SHIFT By Martha Wyatt Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Blackwell visited the latter's mother. Mrs. Eula Johns, of Greenwood recently. We are glad to have the members of the National Guard back at work after a two weeks training period at Fort Stewart. Georgia. Also glad to have our Overseer. Mr. Van Oxner, who is also a member of the National Guards, back with us. tr_ 1 i . i very giaa to report tnat a lot of our people who have been sick are feeling better as of this writing. We are pleased to see Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Seav again living near our Lvdia Community. The Seays recently moved from Enoree to Kinards. Seems that Claud McElhan non has had a very hard time explaining to everyone about his "big black eye". Guess it's his wife and his stove wood. Ha! Ha! Seriously though, let's be a little more careful next time you plav football, Claud. Rev. Holbert and Mr. John F. Deaton, Jr. attended the Church of God Assembly at Cleveland. Tennessee last weekend.
