Mclnvaille spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Furr recently in Lancaster. Hugh Nabors, brother of Mrs. Charlie Fowler, is a patient at General Hospital in Greenville. Mr. Nabors cele brated a birthday August la. Mr. and Mrs. George Taylor and sons of Randleman, N. C. visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Taylor, recently. Mrs. Lucille Taylor celebrated a birthday August 22. Mrs. Sallie Bratcher, mother of Furman Bratcher, has been able to return home from the hospital in Greenwood. She is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Furman Bratcher now and is doing well. We all hope that she will continue to improve. Mrs. Anthony Forester is recuperating at home following surgery at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood. We all wish for her a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Davenport and Kathy, Mrs. Truman Owens and Larry and Phyllis Shealv were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Boyce and family in Inman recently Herman Burdette, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Burdette, and husband of Mrs. Sandra Ivester Burdctte, has returned home after six months of active duty with National Guards. Mr. and Mrs. Sherry Dillishavv are receiving congratulations on the arrival of a girl, Donald Gail, born August 9 at Hays Hospital. The new babv is the granddaughter of Mrs. Sarah Shelnut. Phyllis Shealy of Greenville is spending this week with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Davenport. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lark are visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. P. Lark. Mrs. Melda Nelson is a patient at Blalock Clinic. Our personnel has changed considerably during the last several weeks. We miss those who are not with us any more, and welcome all the new faces. Your reporter and Mrs. Mitchell celebrated their 36th. wedding anniversary on August 12th. Mrs. Marvin Neal reports that her son. Thomas, has spent a few days at home, but has now been transferred to ElPaso, Texas. Miss Carolyn Averv celebrated a birthday on August 17. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Neal celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on July 29. Mrs. Susie Bradley and her sister. Miss Margaret Fisher, visited their sister, Mrs. Lottie Reese, in Augusta, Georgia, who is the proud mother of a new daughter, Mary Elizabeth. Little Ray, son of Mrs. Harold Johnson, celebrated his first birthday on August 20. Mrs. Nannie Wilson and her husband, Eugene, visited Ghost Mountain on August 7th and reported having a wonderful time. At the time of this writing Leonard Gilstrap is enjoying a brief vacation. No doubt we will hear some tall fish stories when he returns. Little Miss Clara Ree Capps from Columbia is visiting Misses Laura and Brenda Cauble in the home of Mrs. Mary Cauble. Watchman Furman Brown celebrated a birthday August 7 with a family gathering at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mary Cauble. (We bet he's 39.) Our sincere congratulations are extended to those who celebrated anniversaries and did not have the privilege to report, and birthdays too. even if you are still .'*9. Dees is spending a thirty day leave here with his mother and other relatives before his new assignment in Bermuda. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Cochran and little daughter, Brenda, from Clarksdale, Georgia arc visiting Mrs. Robert R. Wyatt of Lydia Mills. We are glad to know Mrs. Wilma Stone is back home after an operation in Greenwood Hospital. We wish for her a speedy recovery. Mrs. Alfred Seay celebrated a birthday August 9 and enjoyed a nice birthday dinner at Mrs. Paul Motte's in Clinton. Happy birthday Elsie. Mrs. Glenn Cochran and Joyce Wvatt were shopping in Greenville this week. Miss Linda Boswell has re turned to her home in Shannon, Georgia after spending a few months with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Thornburg, of Lydia Mills. We are happy to know that Mrs. Doris Estes is home and doing fine after an operation at Hays Hospital . CARDING 3RD SHIFT By W. L. Gambrell Mr. and Mrs. Richard Earl Price and family visited the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. James H. Price, of Joanna recently. Kichard is stationed at Jacksonville, Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Harmon WhMaker of Swansee were visitors of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Price. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Evans bad Mr. and Mrs. Miller West of Greer as Sunday quests. Mr. and Mrs. Odie Nelson. Mr. and Mrs. Billy Nelson and son, were sightseers in Brevard, N. C. on a recent Sunday. Dewitt McAlister attended his family's reunion at Paris Mountain State Park August 5. Lvnn Evans, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Evans, spent a week at Camp Ole Indian. Mr. and Mrs. Evans visited Lynn on Wednesday. Miss Annie Jo Rountree. from the Baptist Hospital School of Nursing at the First Baptist Church in Columbia on August 5. Arthur W. Alewine, son of Mrs. Myrtie Alewine, is home on leave from Amarillo Air Base, Texas. Butch McElveen leaves August 20 for Fort McClellan, Alabama for two w e e k s training. Butch is in the Army Reserves.
