OCTOBER. 1961 WEAVE No. 1 3rd SHIFT Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Motes and Mr. and Mrs. George Motes and daughter attended the Motes reunion at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rosco Bundrick at Mountville. Mrs. Dorthy Lawson is a patient at Blalock Hospital. We wish her a speedy recovery. Myra and Kathy Snelgrove were home for the week end. George Motes celebrated a birthday October 16. WEAVING No. 2 9nrl CUIFT By Leila Black Mr. and Mrs. Victor Mattox accompanied Cindy Mattox and Harriet and Barbara Black to the Greenwood Fair. Mrs. Opal Woody and family of Orangeburg, S. C. visited her brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Smith, Sunday. Mrs. Leila Black and children, Mrs. Annie Sloan and Maude spent the week end with Mrs. Sloan's sister, Mrs. Florence Heaton, in Rockingham, North Carolina recent1__ iyMrs. Lucille Thomas of Joanna Hospital Staff spent several days with her sister, Mrs. Effie Willis, last week. Mr. Donald McGinnis attended the World Series. Mr. Colev Campbell. George Price, Toby Campbell, Odis Graham and Silas Campbell visited the races in Atlanta, Georgia recently. Mr. Earl Heaton and Mr. Gene Mannas of Haw Rivers, North Carolina were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Black and family. Mr. and Mrs. Troy Shealv of Greenwood, S. C. visited Mr. and Mrs. W. R. McGinnis Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Creswell and sons visited Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hooper in Newberry Sunday. Miss Judy Smith attended the revival at the Church of God in Newberry last week. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Black and children along with Miss Cindy Mattox attended the birthday dinner for Mrs. Irma Jean Davis and Mrs. Eloise Stone in Hartwell. Georgia Sunday. Friends of Mrs. Lizzy Hooper and Mrs. George King, Jr. will be glad to know thcv are at home and doing fine after operations. Mrs. George Jove, Mrs. Effie Willis and Mrs. Estclle Harrison are able to be out again after being sick. We welcome Harrv Bond to our department. Birthdays Charles Cannon. WEAVING No. 3 & 4 1st SHIFT By G race Woolen Weaving No. 3 has some wide open spaces at the time of this writing. We're getting some new looms, but right now mere s just me empty space where the old looms were taken out. Lvdia Bell. Sam and Mr. Harris are really anxious to start up those new looms, but just for the present I think they've enjoying the little bit of leisure that comes from having a few less looms. Glad to report that Ellison Roberts is able to be back at work after a two months leave of absence due to surgery at Greenville General Hospital. Our deepest sympathy to our co-reporter, Mildred, in the loss of her mother, Mrs. Eunice Arnold, on October 11 and to all the family of Mrs. Arnold. May God comfort your hearts as only He can do. Mrs. Fern Hardman was called to Muskovee, Oklahoma in September due to the death of a new grandchild, and the illness of their son, Paul. Our sympathy to the parents and grandparents of this child, and our sincere hope is that Paul is going to be alright. We want to welcome Tony Strickland to our department and also Joe McCall w h o comes from the scond shift. 1VT rc TT1 Arnnpn Mnrvrn Augusta is a patient at Laurens Hospital. Mrs. Moore became ill while visiting her brother and sisterin-law. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Williams, in September and has been in serious condition. Mrs. Toni Thomas and Miss Margaret Williams, two of Mrs. Moore's sisters, from Birmingham, Alabama have been guests of Mr. and Mrs. Williams while their sister is ill. We sincerely hope she'll soon be on the road to recovery. Mr. R. T. Trammell has been a medical patient at Blalock Clinic. He has returned to his home and we hope he's going to be alright. Mell, Eunice, Inabelle and your reporter visited Mrs. Sam Williams during her stay nt Greenville General Hospital as a surgical patient. THE CLOTHMAKER Mrs. Missouri Wilkie and R. C. visited her mother, Mrs. J. F. Anderson, in Gainesville, Georgia recently. Sgt. and Mrs. Calvin Lee and children are making their home at Shaw Air Base, where Sgt. Lee has been stationed since leaving Alaska. Mrs. Barbara Jennings, formerly of Florida, ha^ come to stay with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Newell Brewington, for a while. Her husband was called back into service for Uncle Sam. P.F.C. Jennings reported to Fort II 4 X Ti ? - ? xiuusiuri, Virginia. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Fowler, Cecil and myself attended the singing in Spartanburg September 30. There were really some wonderful groups there and we really enjoyed it. Congratulations, Herbert! We're sure you're going to enjoy the role of grandfather, even if it is a little girl. Little Terry Kathleen Hughes arrived October 10 at Blalock Clinic where she was greeted bv a wonderful pair of parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Hughes. Mother is the former Miss Martha Jane Horton. Ned Handback, student of Georgia Military College, in Milledgeville spent a week end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Handback. Mrs. Sara Snipes of Waterloo spent a few days with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Alexander. Mrs. Kenneth Burton and children of Charleston spent last month with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wardlaw Lancaster. Mr. John P. Fowler, of LaGrange, Georgia, spent a few days recently with Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Fowler. Mr. D. U. Allman who makes his home with his son. "Bootsie', has been ill and now has gone to visit his daughter, Mrs. Ozzie Cooper, in Pelzer for awhile. We sincerely hope he will soon be completely recovered. I am writing this while Ruth and I are sitting with our dad, Rev. Fall of the year seems to be here in all its splendor, the weather is wonderful and the leaves are changing to different colors and now is a good time to go to the mountains and by all means visit "Ghost Town"', a wild and wooly western town. If you sightsee go to Maggie Valley and Cherokee. Donald McGinnis, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. McGinnis, attended two games of the World Series in New York recently. Mr. and Mrs. E. N. Harrill visited in Spartanburg recently. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Phillips and son visited at Saluda Mountain recently. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Pulley and children of Greenwood visited Mr. and Mrs. David Pulley a Sunday recently. Mr. and Mrs. Marcell Barker and Carroll spent a week end in Charleston with Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Spurlock and sons. On Sunday they visited Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Smith in Bamberg. Mr. Smith is Mrs. Barker's brother. Mr. and Mrs. Marcell Barker were shoppers in Greenville recently. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ger rish are the proud parents of a baby boy, Michael David, born October 8. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Butler, Jr. visited in Columbia a Sunday recently. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Proffitt, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Kernells visited relatives in Johnston and North Augusta recently. Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Blakclv visited Mr. Blakelv's Mother Mrs. Ursula Blakelv, on a re cent Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. Judson Cox of Cross Anchor spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. R. G. 3 ? f t\ ,1 Joan Burgess, a June Graduate of North Greenville Junior College, is employed in the office of the Laurens County Hospital. As a college student she was a member of the College Choir, Vice President of Phi Beta Lamba, Vice President of the House Council of White Hall and a member of the Etude Honorary Society. In Laurens she is serving as choir director of the Saint James Methodist Church. ? fc. L Jean Satterwhite. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Satterwhite. completed a two year X-Ray Technician Course in September at Self Memorial Hospital in greenwood. Jean is presently employed at Central of Georgia Hospital in Savannah.
