Horizon Group
TOURS CLINTON MILLS
AND LAURENS GLASS I
On July 19, 1961, the Senior
Horizon Girls, under the
leadership of Mrs. D. O.
Freeman, went on a guided
tour, bv Mr. Ellis Huffstetler
and Mr. Truman Owens,
through Clinton Cotton Mills.
Mr. Huffstetler explained
the operation of the machines
in each department.
The group reported that this
tour was of the greatest interest
of anything that has
been done so far this season.
The last week in June the
Clinton Senior Horizon Girls,
with their leader, Mrs. D. O.
Freeman, and sponsor, Mrs.
C. H. Jove, went on a guided
tour of the Laurens Glass
Bottling Plant. The tour was
of great interest as well as
educational and was enjoyed
by all. On the return trip
home the group stopped bv
Whiteford's Restaurant for
refreshments and Mr. Whiteford
gave all the information
on how to have a successful
i estaurant.
It's Better To Be Overcautious
With Safety?Than Overwhelmed
With Grief.
COURAGE
When we think of courage,
we oftentimes think of doing
something without fear. But
is that the true meaning of
courage? The dictionary does
include "fearlessness" in its
meaning among other things
but we still contend that to
be courageous, we do things
in spite of our fear. Faith
makes it possible to have
courage. In spite of fear, we
have faith to do a dangerous
act.
In life we. as Christians,
must have courage, not because
we have no fear but
because we have faith that
we are doing the right thing
?sometimes although we are
scared to death and this faith
bolsters our courage. Down
through the ages we have set n
courage. It comes along when
a person is about to give up.
Then he steps to the front
and does the almost impossible.
Jesus has taught us that we
must have faith, dm down,
and come up with courage. Be
strong and follow the straight
road, quite often the rough
road, until we finish our
course.
