Home Fires In
"Fire Is A V,
"The number of home fires
increases sharply when cold
weather strikes", Clinton Fire
Chief Paul Quinton said yesterday.
"Primarily the increase
is due to homeowners
firing up heaters and furnaces
before putting them in proper
condition to stand the demand
required in cold weather. An
overtaxed heating system can
quickly start a tragic fire in
the home", he continued. "Six
thousand Americans lost their
lives to burns and fires in
1959, many of these were
caused by "fire-traps" in their
humpc flnlv p?nrt hffnrp
last twelve South Carolinians
lost their lives in home fires",
he concluded.
Observance of the following
common sense rules would
have prevented 90S of these
fires. Correct these conditions
if they exist in your home
before it is too late. Home
fire safety is up to you!!
