JUNE. 1960 WEAVING NO. 1 1ST SHIFT By Alta Riser Vacation time is here and we would like to remind all of our readers to drive carefully wherever you go. We want you to have a good time and enjoy yourself, but we too want you to not to forget safety is most important of all during vacation. Kenneth Madden went to the beach a few week ends ago and really had a good time. He said he was looking forward to going again the 4th of July. If there is a good looking blonde interested in going notify Ken at once. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Neal visiiea reianves in ureenville recently. Mr. and Mrs. Rov Jackson. Mrs. D. G. Jackson and Miss Minnie Hughes of Columbia visited Mr. and Mrs. Bill Terry recently. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Neal attended a birthday dinner in Salem May 29th honoring her dad on his 69th birthday. May he have many more. Annette and Stan Riser of Anderson spent the week end with their grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Riser and Mrs. Ablene Evans. Steve Neal. son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Neal, was transferred from Laurens Colonial Stores to Asheville. N. C. Arthcr Davis celebrated a birthday May 3rd. Said ho was only 39. WEAVING NO. 1 2ND SHIFT By Beatrice Hawlts Well folks if Daisy Cothran scorns to have tho big head those days please excuse her for she has just moved into a brand new house. We are very happy for her. and hope she will always enjoy it as much as she does now. A birthday dinner was given in honor of Mrs. J. J. Smith by her children on May /\n nor cniuiren except one and all her grandchildren and threat grandchildren were present. Mrs. J. .1 Smith. Nan Smith and Mr. and Mrs. \V. M. Clardner visited Mrs. 1). D. Shields in General Hospital in Spartanburg, Sunday. Nell Gardner said she. Bill. Mercy and Red motored to Greenwood Sunday night. She and Mercy window shopped. She said it was nice seeing what other folks could buv. Daisev Cothran had her brother. Mr. Cecil Polish, and family of Birmingham. Ala. for dinner recently. Mr. and Mrs. Homer I.awson are the proud parents of a 9 pound 11 oz. girl born HI J June 1. The little girl has been named Cathy. Sorry to report Mrs. Homer Lawson is back in Hays Hospital. Mr. J. C. Coker is also a patient at Hays Hospital. Hope them a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Cothlan celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary June 4th. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Alexander had a wedding anniversary the 31st of May. He wouldn't say which one. Wedding Mr. Franklin Alexander and Miss Patricica T e x a n n a Snipes were married on June 3rd bv the brides uncle. Rev. Madden, of Waterloo. Mr. Alexander is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Alexander of Clinton and the bride is the daughter of Mrs. Sarah Snipes of Waterloo. We wish them milt'll tin nnci: Birthdays Mrs. M. D. Smitherman was 70 years old June 4th. Little Joe Cothran was one year old June 11. Anita Turner will be 0 years old June 28. Donnie Coker was 17 years old June 12. WEAVING NO 3 & 4 1ST SHIFT By Mildred Kinard & Grace Wooten Hoo-Rah! It's almost herd Vacation week that is. and I think everyone is really looking forward to it. Mike is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Cannon and Janice is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Davenport. ' Mrs. Mell Huey and Mrs. 1 Inabell Hooper visited Mrs. Vestus Wehunt in Joanna Hospital on Sunday. Mrs. Wehunt underwent surgery there June 3. Sandy Leopard attended the Campfire Girls' Camp at Kings Mountain the week of June 5-12. Miss Gail Griffin of trio rence is spending se\'eral weeks with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Arnold, and other relatives. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. Newell Brewington in the tragic death of their son. Curtis, and also to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Adams in the loss of his father. H. A. Adams. Well, nobody seems to be talking much, so we didn't get too much news. R. Know of Williamson visited Mr. and Mrs. Harry Black last Sunday. Edgar Bowlenger, father of Vlrs. Ralph Campbell, is spending a month or so with ler and Mr. Campbell.
